The Office of Extended Studies (OES) provides continuing education and other outreach activities on behalf of the University of Northern Colorado. Delivery varies from face to face or via distance technologies. All of the extended studies activities and programs support its mission to extend the resources of the University to promote lifelong learning.
The University of Northern Colorado is proud to extend, throughout the state of Colorado, a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree, certificate and licensure programs. Some programs have been extended to the world with the convenience of online instruction. Site-based programs are generally offered in weekend formats to fit the needs of adult learners. All programs, whether site-based or online, are delivered with the same academic standards and quality instruction as on campus programs. Most of the programs begin during the fall semester, some each year and some every other year. Admission to the University is required for degree programs and it is recommended to apply no later than the preceding spring semester. As life long learners, many people begin to think about expanding their educational, professional or personal horizons. It's a fact that continued learning and personal enhancement can boost your productivity and self-esteem. The Office of Extended Studies designs courses to do just that, especially for professionals in the teaching or educational fields.
OES offers credit courses, non-credit courses, and CEU bearing courses through workshops, site-based classes, institutes and online. Most workshops and site-based classes are offered on the weekends to accommodate the working professional. On-line courses allow you to study whenever it is convenient - day or night. Courses are offered throughout the year in a variety of areas with some of the most popular being offered each semester. We are available to assist your business, organization, or school district (within Colorado ) in tailoring courses to meet your exact needs in the credit bearing or non-credit areas. Self-paced independent study courses meet the needs of site-bound students who want and need flexibility. Independent study courses (commonly referred to as correspondence courses) are college-level courses delivered via print-based media or online. Some courses may have an audio and/or video component, use e-mail, or web resources as well. Enrollment is open year round and students may take up to a full year to complete a course.
