Admissions
Transfer Requirements
- 12 or fewer transferable semester hours counted results in admission based on high school credentials including cumulative GPA, class rank, ACT and/or SAT scores.
- 13 or more transferable semester hours counted requires a 2.4 cumulative college GPA for admission.
You must be in good standing at the college or university most recently attended. Also, for admission purposes, a student can be a transfer if transferable college hours have been completed beginning with the fall semester following high school graduation or thereafter.
College credit completed while in high school is eligible to count towards a UNC degree but cannot alone classify a student as a transfer for admission purposes.
Term changes
Once an application is submitted, if you change your term of entry within one year of the original application date, no additional application is required.
The maximum number of semester hours UNC can accept in transfer from a regionally accredited college is 90. Non-transferable work includes grades below a C-, math below college algebra and any remedial, vocational or technical courses. In addition, no more than 90 semester hours total may be transferred from a combination of 2-year and 4-year schools.
Admission Exceptions
Twenty percent of transfer students can be admitted if their GPA falls below the 2.4 requirement. All admission exceptions are handled on an individual basis. Application should be made one year in advance of starting UNC, or as soon as possible.
